Sometimes you just fall in love with something that is completely luxurious, and when I spotted these ostrich feather and bead trimmed mohair shawls and throws by Abafazi at Heimtex and again at Maison Objet, I was completely carried away. And now they have kindly sent photos that i can show to you.

Abafazi means "a group of women" in the Zulu language of South Africa, and these lovely products are hand crafted from South African mohair by local rural women who are trained and employed by this project, both Fair Trade and Eco-Friendly. It was established in 1992 by Ricca Turgel, whose background was in product design and who had designed and implemented Craft Development Projects assisting rural African women while running her own company.
